Why Workplace Accommodations Matter | My Journey and Yours
Workplace accommodations aren’t about weakness, they’re about access, equity, and your right to thrive.
I’ve seen firsthand how hard it can be to advocate for yourself in environments that were never designed with you in mind. In my program and work experience, I saw individuals, especially Black professionals and people of color, feel afraid to ask for accommodations they needed to succeed.
I want you to hear this clearly: workplace accommodations are not about weakness, they are about access.
Whether it’s a flexible schedule to support your mental health, assistive tools to address a learning difference or an environment that prioritizes your needs, accommodations create the foundation for success. Yet so many of us feel like we’re asking for too much.
Here’s what accommodations can look like:
• Flexible schedules or remote options to balance work and wellness.
• Assistive technologies or task support for neurodivergence or physical needs.
• Mental health tools to help you navigate stress or anxiety.
Your voice matters. Your health matters. And your success is not up for debate, although places think that it is.
Through The Soul Empowerment Collective, I help individuals navigate these conversations. I’ll walk you through understanding your rights, building your confidence, and advocating for the tools that allow you to thrive. Because no one should have to shrink themselves to fit into systems that weren’t built for them.
